For 70 years, Southgate Recreation & Park District has grown alongside the neighborhoods it serves. Parks have changed, facilities have expanded, and generations of families have made these places part of their everyday lives.

On the evening of our 70th anniversary, we’re celebrating that story by opening the doors to what comes next.

Join us Thursday, August 27, from 6–8 p.m. for the Fruitridge Community Center and Park Grand Re-Opening Ceremony at 4000 Fruitridge Road in Sacramento.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with guest speakers and a performance by Calidanza, a Sacramento-based folklórico dance organization, followed by a ribbon cutting to officially celebrate the reopening of the newly renovated and expanded Fruitridge Community Center and Park.

Then, stay and enjoy the park with your neighbors! There will be food, local vendors, a bounce house, and activities for kids with the R.E.C. Van as families explore the new and improved spaces throughout the site.

This milestone celebration brings our story full circle. Fruitridge Community Center and Park has served local families for decades, and its newest chapter creates even more room for neighbors to play, gather, grow, and make memories together. The renovated and expanded park includes new basketball and futsal courts, soccer fields, a playground, exercise equipment, shaded gathering spaces, a community garden, walking areas, and new trees throughout the park!

Seventy years brought us here. Now, we invite the community to help us open the next chapter at Fruitridge Community Center and Park!
